#1DAY1IELTS
毎日5問 IELTS Speaking Task1/Day5

21. How long have you known each other?
We have been friends since we were fifteen years old. We started hanging out during a school trip. It brings back memories of our first meal at Saizeriya.

22. What do usually do together?
We often go to same family type restaurant, and then take a purikura-photo. That’s our rules of thumb.

23. What do you like the most about him/her?
I especially like her positive outlook. It has greatly encouraged me. I always appreciate her.

24. How often do you see each other?
Twice or third a year, usually during long vacations.

25. Can you describe your hometown?
As my hometown is located among cities, it is convenient to go shopping and go out further. There are both nature and life spaces. But unfortunately, it takes more than thirty minutes to get to the nearest station, which annoys us sometimes.

0077:MR.BIG/MR.BIG

In 1988, bassist Billy Sheehan, who left DAVID LEE ROTH BAND after recording the album SKYSCRAPER, set out to form his own band. Eric Martin, who had released two solo albums at the time and was talented but had not yet made his breakthrough, joined the band. They were further joined by Pat Torpey, formerly of Ted Nugent and Imperterri. Finally, they welcomed Paul Gilbert, guitarist of RACER X, who was attracting attention in the L.A. music scene at the time, completing the squad.

They made a demo and took it to record companies. They eventually signed with ATLANTIC/WARNER and began recording. Despite a low budget and tight schedule, they welcomed producer Kevin Ellison and completed their first album, "MR. BIG". It was released in 1989. At the time, they were strongly perceived as "that band formed by Billy Sheehan and Paul Gilbert," and their bluesy side rarely received much attention.
The times were harsh for bands like them, and they struggled to achieve the success they hoped for in their home country, the U.S. Nevertheless, they grew into a tight band, mainly playing clubhouse venues, including tours as the opening act for RUSH and on a package tour with WINGER.

Recommend:ADDICTED TO THAT RUSH, MERCILESS, HAD ENOUGH, BLAME IT ON MY YOUTH, TAKE A WALK, BIG LOVE, HOW CAN YOU DO WHAT YOU DO, ANYTHING FOR YOU, ROCK & ROLL OVER, 30 DAYS IN THE HOLE

I often can't figure it out why practicing my instrument and doing what I love leaves me feeling so alone. Friends see me drifting further away and growing distant, and in relationships, no one truly wants to understand me.

英語6語で表現する英語版の俳句「six words」の投稿サイトを見て、面白かったものを紹介します。

Scrolling endlessly, searching for something real.

「終わりなくスクロールしながら、本物の何かを探している」

以前にも書きましたが、「six words」のサイトの投稿にはバックストーリー(何を見て、何を思ってその詩を書いたか)も合わせて投稿できるのですが、次のような文が添えられていました。

Days slipped away in an endless stream of posts and notifications. It felt like connection, but something was missing — authenticity, presence, meaning. The more I scrolled, the further I drifted from real life.

When people ask @NASA_Astronauts why we love our jobs, going to space & @Space_Station is 1 reason…but another reason is the variety of things we see in our daily training to further the multiple human spaceflight efforts we are testing as @NASAArtemis pushes beyond low earth orbit. In one 48 hr period I was blessed to be able to fly a T-38 with a crewmate to work on our resource management/comm, test procedures for @NASA_Orion proximity ops for #Artemis2, prep for an @Axiom_Space pressurized lunar spacesuit test, work the night shift assisting doctors/nurses @memorialhermann ER, test a @blueorigin lunar landing simulator, and watch @SpaceX catch the first stage so we can eventually progress to on-orbit propellant transfer to get @NASA to the moon. Apollo was awesome but NEVER in the history of human spaceflight have we been doing so much testing across so many vehicles.

With every blink,
my eyes are taken deeper into your light

With every breath,
my body falls further into your absence

With every beat,
my heart drifts farther, searching for you

一つ瞬きするたびに
この目はまた強く君に奪われる
一つ息を吸うたびに
この体はまた深く君を求めてる
一つ脈の打つたびに
この心はまた遠く君を探してる
