That moment just filled me with sadness and anxiety about Japan’s future. I do understand that there’s a lot of anti-immigration sentiment in Japan right now.

ただ、外国に来て一生懸命日本語を覚えて、超難関と言われる合格率10%の国家試験に合格しないと測量士にはなれません。

Emotional labor(感情労働)の仕事。客室乗務員や看護師、営業マンなどがこれに相当しますね。
感情労働とは、例えば「この飛行機は安全なんだ」と安心させる上でも仕事で「心からの笑顔」を見せることは、その飛行機が絶対に墜落しないという自信、離着陸は定刻通りという確約、歓迎と次回利用への招待の気持ちを反映させている。というような例がある。

要するに、職務遂行にあたり「公的に観察可能な表情と身体的表現を作るために行う感情の管理」
これらの、感情管理が労働の一部として商品化されている。
看護でいえば、「患者の気持ちに共感的理解をせよ」、「患者に対し個人的感情を持ってはいけない」など多様に商品化されている。

対人援助職では、バーンアウト(燃え尽き)が非常に怖い。職務に対する心理的消耗が起こることである。
「報われなさ」「淡々とこなす」「やりがいを感じられない」などの感情が常にある時は要注意だ。
例えば、看護で言えば死にゆく患者に対して悲嘆や疲弊などがある。

写真の本、ホックシールドは客室乗務員への調査により感情労働に対する調査を実施した。これら感情労働が与える影響を理解して仕事に望むと新しい視点で日頃の諸問題に向き合える視野を持てるのでないか？
