Released in 1984, their 6th album sold over 1 million copies within a few months of its release and has now sold over 10 million copies.
This is the first time for a band to sell this many copies. Despite MASSIVE sales, the album reached #2 in the U.S., but was prevented from reaching #1 by Michael Jackson's "Thriller," which was released at the same time. However, the single cut "Jump" was able to reach No. 1 in the U.S.
The synthesizers and keyboards, which had been slightly introduced on the previous two albums, were boldly used on the album, giving the songs a more commercial feel.
At the same time, however, lead singer Dave Lee Roth left the band at the end of this album to pursue a solo career. The band took a hiatus at this point, marking a major turning point in their career.
