Grades can’t capture my quiet grind.
「成績は、私の静かな努力を捉えきれない」という感じでしょうか。
以前にも書きましたが、「six words」のサイトの投稿にはバックストーリー（何を見て、何を思ってその詩を書いたか）も合わせて投稿することができ、こちらの詩には次のような文が添えられていました。
Got my test results today. I worked hard, but the marks didn’t show it. I’m still proud of myself for trying. I’m learning that progress matters more than perfection.
「今日テストの結果が返ってきた。頑張ったけれど、点数にはそれが表れなかった。それでも挑戦した自分を誇りに思う。完璧よりも前進することの方が大切だと学んでいるところだから」
努力や成長と言うのは、なかなか結果に表れない、外からは見えないこともあります。だからと言って努力していれば成長していないわけではありません。たとえ評価や結果につながらなくても、頑張った自分をほめてあげましょう。
また成長というのは連続的ではなく不連続な場合もあり、ドラクエのレベル上げのようにある程度経験値が貯まらないと次のレベルに上がらないと言ったこともあります（コツが掴めることで一気に上手くなるとか）。結果に現れるまで客観的に見て変化がないように見える時は苦しい時でもありますが、そこで止めずに続けることで次の段階への道が開けることもあるので、苦しくなったらそんな事も思い出しつつ努力を継続すると良いかもしれません。
ただし、人には向き不向きがあるので、どうやってもその分野では努力しても成長が見込めないということもあります（プロスポーツや芸能の世界など）。やみくもに努力するのではなくて、自分が何に向いているのかを冷静に分析してから努力する方向を決めた方が良いかもしれません。まあ、このあたりは難しいことではあります。
外から見て変化がないように見えて、中では実は成長しているというものの例としては、（以前にも書いた気もしますが）雛になる前の卵が挙げられます。外から見ると「全く変化のなかった卵が、ある日突然殻が割れて雛に変わった」ように見えますが、卵の中から見ると「雛は少しずつ成長していき、やがて殻の大きさを超えるほどに成長すると殻が破れて外に出る」という感じで、中から見ると殻を破るのは成長の一つの過程に過ぎないことが分かります。自分の成長は自分自身がよく分かっている、ということもあるかと思います。外部の評価を気にせずに努力し続ければ、ある日突然評価につながる（殻が破れる）こともあるかもしれません。
長々と書きましたが、何かに努力している全ての人を応援したいと思います。ガンバレ！
