0066:VAN HALEN/A DIFFERENT KIND OF TRUTH
After Michael Anthony was fired, the band recruited Wolfgang Van Halen, son of Eddie Van Halen, who was 15 years old at the time, as bassist, and toured the United States in 2007 with the original lead singer, Dave Lee Roth.
The band had no plans to make an original album, but at Wolfgang's urging, they decided to do so, completing the album with re-productions of mostly unreleased songs from the 1970s. The album will be released in 2012, followed by a world tour with this lineup. This will be Van Halen's last original album...

なんでわざわざ使役動詞みたいにして、受動態で使うんだろ？と思い、調べてみた。
そもそも受動態で使う動詞は割とある。「be injured」だとか「be burned」だとか。意味としてケガしたり、ヤケドしたり。自分の意思ではなくそういう状態になる、様な動詞は使役動詞的に働いて受動態で「そういう状態にさせられた」というニュアンスで使われるのだ。
面白いのが、仕事関係の動詞も同じように働く傾向がある。「hired」「promoted」「fired」雇われる、昇進する、クビになる、全部受動態で表現するのだ。自分の意思から外れた感じが仕事にあるのは英語圏でも一緒なのが面白い。
ちなみに何故か「engage」も「marry」も受動態で使われるのは何故だろう（笑）。
