筆者の話です。
「座ればご飯が出てくる」が当たり前だった頃の記憶が、結婚後に静かに揺らぎました。
作る側に立って初めて見えたものとは。

独身で親と同居していた頃、食卓は「座れば自然と整っていく場所」でした。
仕事から帰ると、炊きたてのご飯とおかずが並び、私は手を洗って席に着くだけ。
台所の様子を気にすることもなく、テレビをつけて、今日あったことを話します。
何が食べたいか聞かれれば、深く考えずに「これがいい」と答えていました。
その言葉の裏に準備や段取りがあることを、当時はほとんど意識していなかったのです。
作る側
ところが結婚して、毎日の食事を自分が用意する立場になると、様子は一変しました。
冷蔵庫を開けて中身を確認し、賞味期限を頭に入れながら献立を考える。
仕事帰りに買い物をして、帰宅後すぐに下ごしらえに取りかかる日もありました。
朝昼晩の流れを組み立てているうちに、一日の中心が「ご飯」になっていきます。
作る時間だけでなく、考える時間や気力も必要なのだと、身をもって知りました。
