I really want to take it all back
I was just being a coward
Afraid that my heart would crack
So I lied, yes, I lied,
And it's eating me up inside
But I pray that you'll soon fade away
So that I won't have to hide
So that I will be justified
I was scared to face my feelings
It was all too new to me
I couldn't deal with my own heart
So I built a wall around me
And I lied, yes, I lied,
And my heart's broken inside
But I pray that you'll soon fade away
So that the pain might subside
So that I will be justified
I can pretend that I don't care
But I cannot lie forever
I can't deny the pain I'm feeling
From the ties I tried to sever

Because it eats me up inside
Because I fear that you won't fade away

Shitty Nights
Sometimes you can have a good day
A great day, even.
You'd have no reason to be blue
Because for once, nothing actually went wrong.
Still, soothing as the tea is on a cold winter's day,
Night falls, and thoughts run free.
You'd have had a perfect day, until your thoughts got in the way.
It's tough.
Why it happens, you wouldn't know;
How it happens, you're none the wiser.
But it still does, and you're stuck with your thoughts.
The thought strikes you. Literally.
Tainting your day, your perfect day, with meaningless doubts and irrational fears.
And just like that, it's ruined.
You never meant it,
You didn't want it,
You certainly didn't plan it.
It just happens.
And then you go to bed, hoping for a better day tomorrow as you always do,
Almost like clockwork.
Hoping, praying even, for a good day
With a better ending.
But for now, you shrug and go to sleep.
It's just one of those shitty nights.
