Right now I'm sinking to the bottom of the deep sea. Light is far away, sound doesn't reach me, and each breath grows heavier. In the darkness I hide from everyone; thoughts sink like lead, and sharp fragments of memory stab my chest. Whenever I move my legs, the past and worries wrap around me, and the strength to look up gradually wears away.
Still, a small bubble remains at the corner of my heart. I reach for that bubble with my fingertips - and take one deep breath. I don't have to rush to the surface. Repeating that single breath is the first small step toward a faint light.
